I have a Dell 2900 with 2 quad xeon processors (8 cores) and 24 gb of memory. This should be good enough to support quite a few virtual mahcines. I currently have windows 2003 x64 servers running, and their performance is good. I have installed a windows 2008 x64 enterprise server and the performance is terrible. The mouse is jerky on the remote console, a little better if you terminal service to the server but not much. If I ping from the same network the response is seldom less than 100ms.
Something is basically wrong here. Since this is my first experience with 2008 server I am not sure where to start looking, at vmware or windows.
I am running the lastest version of vmware server 2.0, downloaded yesterday, so that should be current.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what this could possibly be?
