VM's won't talk between hosts through Distributed switch between clustered Hosts

I have a Dell M1000e Blade Server and have ESXi 3.5 installed on each of my 3 Hosts (physical blade servers). The 3 hosts are clustered within vCenterServer, and I have all of my VM's (13 of them) built across the 3 hosts.

Host 1

-VM1 172.16.20.221

-VM2 172.16.20.222

Host 2

-VM3 172.16.20.223

Here is my issue:

I have a distributed switch with Physical adapters assigned (but I feel like for this scenario, that shouldn't matter... correct me if I'm incorrect) The Distributed switch has a VM Port group assigned to it with a VLAN 20 tag. NIC's in that port group have been assigned to VM 1 2 and 3. The IP Scheme is 172.16.20.x, and I've triple checked the gateway and all that, I really feel like it must be a VMware thing.

Functionally, I can connect between VM1 and VM2, but neither can see VM3 and VM3 cannot see them.

I guess my gut feeling tells me I need to physically switch between physical servers, but it seems like VmWare should connect them logically and virtually if they are on the same network.

Thanks for your help
