Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a mini test network (for mcsa training)
I have installed a Server 2003 Std as a virtual machine (On a 64 bit vista ultimate machine). I believe when I set the original setting up I chose Bridged. I ran through the setup. Manged to login, and even get out onto the net to install updates
My goal is do have the above server as main server i.e. so it acts as my DC/DHCP..etc
At the mo it's getting an IP from my host's router
What should I do next
- Start installing the DHCP...etc roles to the server?
After I have done so. What changes do I need to make so I can assign the server a static IP that will be internal to the network? But still be able to get out onto the net
Once this is done. I'm going to install a Virtual XP machine.....will it pick up an IP from the server if I choose "Automatically get an IP". Or do I need to change any settings in the TCP/IP properties?
PS: Please keep it simple as I'm just starting out
