bridged networking problems

Hi,

i'm trying to setup a vmware server enviroment on an dedicated root server. The virtual machines should be reachable from the outside just as physical servers, so i ordered a own subnet for that and wanted to set it up as a bridged network. The vmware host and the two vm's got an ip from this subnet, ipv4 forwarding on the host is enabled. The host and the guest systems are Debian linux.

Host:

IP: 85.XXX.XXX.4

Gateway: 85.XXX.XXX.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.224

Broadcast: 85.XXX.XXX.31

Network: 85.XXX.XXX.0

VM1:

IP: 85.XXX.XXX.5

Gateway: 85.XXX.XXX.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.224

Broadcast: 85.XXX.XXX.31

Network: 85.XXX.XXX.0

VM2:

IP: 85.XXX.XXX.6

Gateway: 85.XXX.XXX.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.224

Broadcast: 85.XXX.XXX.31

Network: 85.XXX.XXX.0

Everything is set up as explained above, the existing problem is, that none of the vm's hast access to the internet nor is it able to ping the gateway although the vm's are able to reach each other and the host  (ping and ssh). The host is able to reach the vm's, the internet and of course ping the gateway.

Any help is appreciated, i'm looking for a solution for this problem for days now.

Thanks in advance
