Hello

When I copy a Clone from my computer to the VMWare Server it always says:

Hard Disk 1 (IDE 0:0) Hard disk not valid

And it doesn't start.

"Power On Virtual Machine" failed to complete

If these problems persist, please contact your system administrator.

Details

Cannot open the disk 'C:\Virtual Machines\XP Office2003 VPN JSAG\Windows XP Professional-cl1.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden. (engl: The system can not find the path specified)

But the file exists!!

Here is the content of the directory of the clone:

The marked path does not exist on the VMServer! It is a path of a client machine which has set up this clone. But this wrong path is not in the config file. Instead I found it in the  Windows XP Professional-cl1.vmdk imagefile! I opened that 3Gig file with a text editor    and changed the path. Now the VM starts. But I cannot expect this fix of our users. What am I doing wrong? I read in this forum that people have multiple vmdk files, some of them to be somthing like "additional config files". But i didn't really understand.

Any ideas how to avoid such thing? Recomended readings?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Hans
