I need to make so that an external USB hard drive, plugged in to the host machine, is visible and accessible to both the host machine and a guest machine (both running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2) at the same time. The drive must also be automatically reconnected to the guest machine in case the host, the guest or both are rebooted.
In VMWare web access, I have put a check next to the USB drive in the USB autoconnect drop down menu (thus the USB drive has become accessible to the guest machine, which was not before) and at this point I could access the USB drive from both machines.
Then I rebooted the host machine (thus also rebooting the guest) and I discovered that after the reboot the USB drive was accessible only from the guest machine; it was now invisible to the host machine.
Is there a way to fix this?
