What modified my VMDK files

This morning at around 8:00 I turned on my laptop on my home desk and left it there as I left for work.  It had been shut off since last night.  I didn't stick around for it to finish booting; I just wanted it on when I got home so I didn't log in to it.

When I got home, I opened my VMWare folder and noticed that several folders there showed a modified date of this morning at 8:07.  That piqued my interest so I looked further and noticed that, of 5 VMs - 2 Windows and 3 Solaris - 2 folders showed a modification date of this morning: 1 Windows and 1 Solaris.  The rest of the folders did not have the changed modificationi date.  More interestingly, of all of the folders, one, and only one, of the VMDK files also had a modified date of this morning at 8:07 - the Windows VMDK that also had the folder modified date changed.

So what could have modified my folders and VMDK file?  Are there known viruses that search out and spread into VMDK files?  Would any VMWare service modify two of five folders and one of five VMDK files?

I am running VMWare Server 2.?

Thanks.

Dale
