VMs do not shutdown

Dear community,

my szenario:

VMware Server 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 hosting 4 VMs

The VMs are 1 Windows Server 2003 and 3 Windows XP.

My Problem:

Shutting down the Windows Server 2008 seems not to shutdown the VMs.

Shutting down is activated for all VMs.

In the Eventlog from the 2003 Server there are events for the "Shutdown Call" as well as ID 6006 wich is for me normally an indicator for a correct shutdown.

But restarting the Sysem and in follow the W2k3 it ask always for the reason of the shutdown.

The three Clients do have no entry of an ID 6006.

Has anyone an idea , why the VMs are not shutdown correctly ?
