I have been working on this issue for quite some time with no resolution. I initially had a problem executing the VMWare Server Home Page so I installed the VMWare Server Console and receive the following error when attempting to launch the VMWare Server Console on the same server the VMWare Server is installed and connect locally:
501 Global command GLOBAL server-vmdb to non-host agent targets not supported.
Came to the conclusiong that this was the result of the VMware Host Agent service not being able to start.
Environment:
IBM BladeCenter HT Chassis |
IBM eServer HS21 - 8853AC1 |
NetXtreme Broadcom5704S |
2x Quad Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5440 @ 2.83 GHz |
I initially installed VMWare Server 2.0 then upgraded to 2.0.1 to see if that would resolve the issue but still no success.
Event Viewer message:
The VMware Host Agent service terminated with service-specific error 4294967295 (0XFFFFFFFF)
Steps tried so far:
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail
Tried manually starting the VMWare Host Agent
Tried upgrading from VMWARE 2.0 to VMWARE 2.0.1
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling
Tried running the service as ADMINISTRATOR
This is the only VMWare Server service that will not start..I've googled and I can not find a resolution for this problem.
