We are having a major problem with our installation of VMware 2.0 on a Windows 2008 Server. I have 2 VM's both running Windows 2003 Standard 32bit each on dedicated Nic Cards. The Nic is a Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad Port. The host is on a dedicated NIC as well. Bridging is disabled inaddition to NAT and DHCP. In addition to this the HOST is used as a file server that our network users use. After the installation of VMware, once or twice a day, we lose connection to the shared network drives on the server. I can ping the server but I can't see it on the network. The server logs do not have any errors in them. I can resolve the problem by rebooting the server and it will work for a while before I have to do it again. I thought that maybe the nics were going to sleep, so we disabled Energy Management to no resolve. Thought that is might be a Windows Firewall issue, however, it's disabled as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
